Eligibility
The American Legion is the nation’s largest, most influential, effective and dependable advocate of veteran affairs. Since 1919, Legionnaires have fought for the rights of servicemen and women. Today we stand 2.7 million members Nationwide, and have over 130,000 Legionnaires from The Department of Florida.
If you have served honorably during any eligible war eras or are on active duty today, serving honorably, become a member of The American Legion, Department of Florida!
Eligibility Information
If you have served federal active duty in the United States Armed Forces since December 7, 1941, and have been honorably discharged or are still serving – you are eligible for membership in The American Legion!
*Because eligibility dates remain open, all active duty members of the U.S. Armed Forces are eligible to join The American Legion at this time, until the date of the end of hostilities as determined by the government of the United States.
**U.S. Merchant Marine eligible only from December 7, 1941 to December 31, 1946 (WWII).

American Legion Post 412, Department of Florida is always there for you and your family – whether it is when we lobby in Washington, D.C. or at our local American Legion Posts throughout the state of Florida. Just like you, we’re “Still Serving America!”

I certify by forwarding this application that I served at least one day of active military duty during the dates December 7, 1941 – Present and was honorably discharged or am still serving honorably. Please charge my credit card $40.00 for annual membership in The American Legion.
- A portion of the annual dues ($3.00) is allocated to The American Legion Magazine for a 12-month subscription; it is non-refundable and non-deductible from dues.
